ItsNotUs Mutation Techniques
Our proprietary methods for stacking mutations efficiently
ItsNotUs Mutation Fundamentals
At ItsNotUs, we've perfected mutation stacking to create the most powerful dinosaurs on any server. Our methods focus on efficiency and predictability.
Mutation Counters
Every dinosaur has three mutation counters displayed in the ancestry tab:
- Matrilineal Mutations - mutations from the mother's side
- Total Mutations - the combined total of all mutations
- Patrilineal Mutations - mutations from the father's side
Mutation Limits
Each side (matrilineal and patrilineal) can display up to 20 mutations, for a total of 40 visible mutations. Beyond this, you'll need to refresh with a clean breeder to continue mutating.
ItsNotUs Tip:
We always keep a stock of clean females (0 mutations) to breed with our mutated males. This allows us to continue stacking mutations even after hitting the visible cap.
The ItsNotUs Mutation Process
Start with Clean Breeders
Find a male and female with 0 mutations on both sides. The female should have high stats in the desired attribute (e.g., Health).
We prefer high-level wild tames for our foundation breeders.
Breed for Mutations
Breed your dinosaurs repeatedly until you see a mutation. The mutation counter will show as 0-1-0 or 0-0-1.
We maintain breeding pairs in ratios of 1 male to 10-15 females for efficiency.
Check the Mutation
If the mutation hit your desired stat (e.g., Health increased from 171 to 173), keep that dinosaur as your new breeder.
We use a color-coded system to track which stats have mutations.
Continue Stacking
Breed your mutated dinosaur with clean females to stack more mutations on the same stat.
We never breed two mutated dinosaurs together to avoid hitting the cap too quickly.
ItsNotUs Advanced Mutation Strategy
Clean Males & Mutated Females
Our most efficient strategy is to use a clean male (0 mutations) and breed it with mutated females. This allows us to stack mutations without hitting the cap too quickly.
Stat Caps
Each stat has a maximum of 255 points. If a stat reaches exactly 255, you can no longer mutate it. More importantly, if a mutation tries to add +2 beyond 255, it can cause stat rollover or glitches.
This is why we stop at 254 points - it's the highest safe value that prevents potential issues.
Color Mutations
Mutations can also affect dinosaur colors. Each mutation has a 10% chance to change one of the dinosaur's color regions, which can create visually unique creatures.
ItsNotUs Secret Technique:
We use color mutations as visual indicators of mutation counts. Specific color patterns correspond to how many mutations a dino has.
Clean Male
0-0-0
Mutated Female
0-12-0
Potential Baby
0-13-0 or 0-12-1
ItsNotUs Pro Tips for Mutation Breeding
Keep Detailed Records
We maintain spreadsheets tracking mutation counts, stats, and generations for every breeding line.
Maintain Clean Females
Always keep a stock of clean females (0 mutations) to breed with your mutated males.
Focus on One Stat
We focus on mutating one stat at a time rather than trying to improve multiple stats simultaneously.
Regularly Cull Unwanted Offspring
We dispose of dinosaurs that don't have the desired mutations to save space and improve efficiency.
