ItsNotUs Base Building Philosophy
At ItsNotUs, we believe the best defense is not being found. Our base designs prioritize stealth, misdirection, and layered defenses that make raiding us more trouble than it's worth.
Our Base Building Principle:
"The most secure base is the one nobody knows exists, and if they find it, they wish they hadn't."
PVP Base Building Fundamentals
Building in ARK PVP requires a different approach than PVE. Your base needs to be both functional and defensible against other players.
Location Selection
Choosing the right location is critical for PVP base defense:
- Hidden locations (caves, underwater, dense forests)
- Difficult to reach locations (cliff faces, high mountains)
- Areas with natural choke points
- Proximity to important resources
ItsNotUs Tip:
We never build in obvious locations. The best spots are those that require specific dinos or equipment to access.
Base Design Principles
Effective PVP bases follow these design principles:
- Layered defense (multiple walls and obstacles)
- No obvious weak points
- Turrets covering all approaches
- Compartmentalized structure (so breaching one area doesn't compromise the whole base)
- Hidden vaults and storage
Defensive Structures
Turrets
Turrets are your primary defense against raids. We use a mix of:
- Heavy Turrets - High damage, but slower fire rate
- Tek Turrets - Effective against Tek armor and creatures
- Plant Species X - Slowing effect and area denial
Turret Placement Strategies
Our turret placement techniques:
- Create overlapping fields of fire
- Use different heights for turrets
- Place some turrets inside to catch raiders who breach outer walls
- Use turrets to cover blind spots and approach routes
ItsNotUs Secret:
We always keep a percentage of our turrets on players only to conserve ammunition for actual threats.
Walls and Structures
Your building materials matter:
- Thatch/Wood - Basic, easily destroyed
- Stone - Resistant to most dinosaurs
- Metal - Strong against explosives and dinosaurs
- Tek - Highest resistance, but expensive
ItsNotUs Meta Base Designs
Cave Bases
Caves offer natural protection but have specific challenges:
- Limited building space
- Often have only one entrance (which can be both good and bad)
- May require specific building techniques
Underwater Bases
Underwater locations provide natural concealment:
- Require scuba gear or underwater tames to access
- Can be built in deep trenches for added security
- Turrets are less effective underwater
Cliff Platforms
Cliff platforms offer unique advantages:
- Difficult to approach without flying mounts
- Limited angles of attack
- Can be built in hard-to-reach locations
Defensive Tactics
Dinosaur Defense
Our well-bred dinosaurs can be powerful defenders:
- Imprinted creatures with high stats
- Set to aggressive or turret mode
- Positioned strategically around your base
- Include a mix of ranged and melee attackers
Trap Designs
Our signature traps that catch raiders off guard:
- Bear traps to immobilize players
- Plant Species Y for area denial
- Tek forcefields to block entry
- Maze-like structures to confuse attackers
ItsNotUs Base Maintenance
Regular Checks
We maintain our base's defensive integrity:
- Regularly check turret ammunition
- Repair damaged structures promptly
- Update designs based on new meta strategies
- Keep defensive dinosaurs fed and healthy
Resource Management
Our PVP bases require significant resources:
- Establish efficient farming operations
- Create hidden resource caches
- Diversify storage to prevent total loss in a raid
ItsNotUs Defense Achievement
Our main base withstood a 6-hour siege by three allied tribes without being breached, costing them over 50 dinos and countless resources.
